I am a man in my prime, living alone for the time, have 3 amazing boys and 5 grandchildren. Much to be happy about, much to live for. My life is good.

My personal life mission statement:

"Create a caring and open home where my love ones always feel welcome and thrive, with a safe and open environment for discussions, cultivates diversity as an advantage. While advocating for sustainable practices that care for and protect our planet for future generations, prioritize a healthy lifestyle through nutritious meals and regular outdoor activities."

My motto is:

"appreciate the little things in everyday life and always as in always... look forward."

I love to be outdoors all year round, being out in the forest and mountains, to actively use the amazing nature around where I live here in Norway, has done slalom, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, hiking, canoe, a lots of cycling, plus more, but have to say MTB is my passion, so yes I enjoy being active outdoor.

Throughout my life, I have made some lifestyle changes. Some been natural, as most of us do in life. Moving to a new country or part of the country, getting married, having children, changing jobs or careers. And some have been forced upon me for unexpected reasons like illness, divorce, or simply because my life got a little off track.

But especially in recent years, I have spent time finding myself again, understanding myself more deeply, gaining a deeper insight into who I had been, where I come from, who I really am and what I wanted to stand for, keeping a strong focus on health, both physical and mental, a good and simple life, living a healthy lifestyle with good natural habits.

This is what I share here on my blog, my journey, my experiences and the knowledge I gain on the journey towards a better and healthier lifestyle.

1960 - Life begins.

I was born on a sunny June day in 1960 in a small town in Denmark. Moved to Aarhus, Denmark's second largest city, in 1966, where I completed my education in retail and food in the late 70s.

1982 - Arriving Oslo, Norway

I moved to Norway in 1982 after an invitation from the food industry to help develop food stores. For the next 14 years I worked in various areas, mainly in food-related companies. Development of food stores, food industry, catering companies, in various positions from department to administration and management.

1996 - Time to change direction

I was actually born a tech geek, just a decade too early😁, so in early 1996 I felt it was time to change direction and I decided to retire from the food industry and take a six month break. In late 1996 I got the opportunity to join the IT department of a large company. And yes, this was my passion, my dream come true. I bought my first home PC back in 1984 and I was one of the first to start using “IT” solutions in retail and food stores back in the late 80s, so yes, this was my dream to turn my “hobby” into a full-time career.

I continued to build my career in IT and technology, I would say, starting from the bottom since I have no education, just what I had taught myself, found my niche in designing advanced technology solutions for the use of information in IT solutions for management information in large corporations, using history to predict the future of the companies.

Continue in that direction, develop cloud solutions, AI solutions, and preach how technology and especially AI can be of great help if we learn to use it correctly. Until I got a hard stop in 2023.

I managed to gain a lot of experience in management, leading departments, project management, leading and training people, building teams, working in international companies, traveling all over the world for several years, meeting people, learning and gaining respect for all the beauty that exists in all the different cultures that shape our wonderful planet. I have seen both many good things, but unfortunately also some really bad things along the way. I believe that all of this has shaped me into a better person, more robust and enduring, patient and accepting, learning to see the beauty in being different, to embrace diversity as an advantage.

My first love

But yes, my first love, food, has always been and still is a big part of my DNA. As I have traveled the world, I have spent my time discovering food and food culture. I have learned about spices, different ingredients, discovered new recipes. I have also followed how different food cultures affect people's lifestyles and health. I have built knowledge and experience about the importance of a proper and healthy food culture in order to have and maintain good and strong health.

I visit more or less around 40 different countries, some just for short stops and some for longer stays. I try to gather some impressions of the food when I have stopped in a country for short or longer periods. I have used this experience to develop my cooking, find my tastes and my types of food combinations.

2014 - An unexpected turn

In 2014, my life took an unexpected turn. I hit a roadblock in my life, a lot of different things going wrong at the same time: a divorce, a serious illness, burnout due to a time with a lot of work. I lost track of what was important in life, fell into the trap of believing that wealth and fame were what defined a meaningful life. Suddenly, I realized that this was so wrong, so wrong.

When I lost track of my own health, completely lost track of what was important to me, lost track of the plans I had for life and the people who mattered to me, was burned out and seriously ill, probably had one foot in the grave for a short period of time, before I was forced to stop and realize that I had to change my lifestyle and get back to my roots, because someone actually loved me and wanted me to stay a little longer.

At that time, I thanked my creator for all the knowledge I had in my backpack, which would now prove to be a valuable aid in getting my life back on track, which has helped me find a healthy lifestyle, the lifestyle that has actually always been who I am. So this is my story, that is why I started the blog “jahus.com”. It covers my tips and tricks, shares my experiences, my knowledge about diet and lifestyle, and my recipes.

I got my lif back on track in a few years, lost a lot of weight (down 50 kg) in a relatively short period of 1 1/2 years. My health improved significantly, I found a healthy lifestyle again, and life shine again in the following years, life was good.

2023 - Again... An unexpected turn.

In May 2023 my life took another unexpected turn, this time it hit me hard. I had a bike accident in the mountains near where I live. I ended up with a serious head injury that has meant that I have been living with the aftereffects of a traumatic brain injury that has caused permanent cognitive challenges. Then I can say again that all the good and some bad knowledge I have collected in my bag throughout a long life, would really show up and be what today helps me return to a good life again.

So this leads me to start the blog My Story Till Now, "mstn.no", in 2024/25, where I share my stories about how I use what I have learned in life to get my life back on a new, amazing path. A kind of defining a kind of "new" lifestyle, or I would rather say about finding my way back to who I really am, my roots.

2026 - A new chapter

Now I'm writing a new chapter in my life. It's still about living a healthy and natural life, appreciating the little things, and turning what doesn't work into opportunities and possibilities. I still have the same focus on eating healthy, being active, looking forward, and not letting history hold me back, using it as a lesson to try to avoid making too many of the same mistakes again😁.

In the next chapter of my life, I will actively use both of my blogs. For jahous.com, the main focus will still be recipes, diet and general lifestyle. On mstn.no, I will continue to write my story about how I adapt my life to live with the consequences of my brain injury. I will share how I use what I find in my backpack to rebuild my life into a good and meaningful life again.

The meaning of life is to live a meaningful life

I believe in you, with love Jørn❤️
